Curaçao, the sun-drenched island in the Caribbean, is known for its crystal-clear waters, colorful architecture, and vibrant culture. But one of the most unique tours in Curaçao you can take is a trip to the paradisiacal Klein Curaçao. In this blog, I will take you on my personal adventure to this special little island and share other great excursions in Curaçao that you shouldn't miss. My day began early in the morning when I boarded the comfortable BlueFinn catamaran. The trip to Klein Curaçao takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes, and as we sailed through the deep blue waters, I admired the east coast of Curaçao. Klein Curaçao, also known as Klein Kòrsou by the locals, is an uninhabited island located about 10 kilometers southeast of Curaçao. The journey itself was already an adventure; dolphins played in the boat’s waves and the sun shone brightly in the sky. The crew created a pleasant atmosphere on board and took good care of everyone. At a certain point, you see the lighthouse of Klein Curaçao appear on the horizon. Shortly after, you can spot the azure sea surrounding Klein Curaçao. It was so beautiful, and the excitement was rising! When we arrived at Klein Curaçao, I was immediately overwhelmed by the island's unprecedented beauty. The beach, also known as Klein Curaçao Beach, is a vast stretch of white sand surrounded by crystal-clear water. It was as if I had stepped into a postcard. One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the Klein Curaçao shipwreck. This rusty old ship lies dramatically on the coast and offers a fascinating contrast to the bright colors of the surroundings. There isn’t much left of it, but it remains a popular spot for photos and a reminder of the wild seas surrounding this island. Next, I walked to the iconic pink lighthouse of Klein Curaçao. A monument! This lighthouse, built in the 19th century, stands proudly in the middle of the island and offers a great view of the surrounding landscape. It was a bit of a climb, but the view from the top was absolutely worth it. The rugged beauty of the island and the vastness of the sea were breathtaking. You can really take some beautiful vacation photos here! Of course, I couldn’t leave Klein Curaçao without exploring the underwater world. I put on my snorkeling gear and dove into the warm, clear water. The sea around Klein Curaçao is known for its rich marine life, and I was not disappointed. Colorful fish and many pufferfish swam around me. I even spotted a few curious turtles. For diving enthusiasts, there are also fantastic dive sites around the island where you can discover beautiful coral reefs and exotic sea creatures. While my adventure to Klein Curaçao was an unforgettable experience, there are plenty of other excursions in Curaçao that are worth it. A visit to Christoffel National Park is a must for nature lovers. This park, located in the northwest of the island, offers beautiful hiking trails, impressive views, and a rich variety of flora and fauna. Climbing the Christoffelberg is a challenge, but the panoramic view from the top is the perfect reward. For a bit of history and mystery, you can explore the Hato Caves. These limestone caves, located north of Willemstad, harbor impressive stalactites and stalagmites. They are also an important archaeological site with ancient rock drawings. Of course, a visit to the capital Willemstad should not be missed. The colorful houses of the Otrobanda district, the floating Queen Emma Bridge, and the lively markets, such as Kura Hulanda Village, make this city one of the most picturesque and charming places in the Caribbean. Curaçao has so many excursions to offer for adventurous travelers and sun worshipers. Whether you explore the serene beaches of Klein Curaçao, stroll through the vibrant streets of Willemstad, or discover the natural beauty of Christoffel National Park: there is something for everyone. My personal experience on Klein Curaçao was unforgettable. I highly recommend adding this excursion to your itinerary.
