Picture this: an uninhabited island in the southern Caribbean, where pearl-white beaches stretch endlessly, the water glows in every shade of blue, and a tall pink lighthouse watches silently over it all. Sounds like paradise? It is.

Welcome to Klein Curaçao.

This could be your next escape. Step aboard one of BlueFinn’s spacious catamarans and relax as we sail you toward this breathtaking destination. The journey takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on sea conditions, and thanks to the stability of our vessels, even guests prone to seasickness can enjoy a smoother ride.

Once we arrive, we anchor just off the shore. You can dive straight into the crystal-clear water for a refreshing swim to the beach or hop on our dinghy for a quick transfer. From the moment your feet touch the sand, the island is yours to explore. Snorkel with sea turtles, float in the warm turquoise sea, wander through untouched nature, or simply relax in the soft white sand while the serenity sinks in.

Our friendly crew is by your side throughout the day—serving unlimited drinks, preparing a delicious BBQ lunch, and ensuring you have everything you need. A day with BlueFinn to Klein Curaçao isn’t just a trip; it’s a memory in the making.

What to Expect

Your day begins the moment you step aboard. Our crew welcomes you with a friendly smile, helps you settle in, and gives a short safety briefing before we set sail. As we leave Curaçao behind, you’ll feel the breeze pick up and the ocean slowly shift from deep blue to bright turquoise.

The sailing time is roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on sea conditions. Along the way, you can relax in the shade, stretch out in the sun, or lounge on the nets at the front, feeling the water rush beneath you.

When Klein Curaçao appears on the horizon, you’ll instantly see why this destination is so loved. The island is untouched, quiet, and unbelievably beautiful. We anchor just offshore, and you can either swim to shore in clear, warm water or take the dinghy for a quick ride.

Once on the island, the day is yours. Explore the historic pink lighthouse, visit the shipwrecks, snorkel with sea turtles, float in the open ocean, or simply settle into the powdery white sand and enjoy the peace. Our crew prepares a delicious BBQ lunch and serves unlimited drinks throughout the day, so you’re always cared for.

We end the experience with a smooth sail back to Curaçao—sometimes calm, sometimes adventurous depending on the waves—but always memorable.

On board, you’ll find:
• Comfortable shaded areas
• Large sun spaces, including nets at the front where you can lounge right above the water
• Seating on the hulls for a front-row view
• Storage under the seats (items may get wet)
• Marine toilets on board

The two catamarans differ mainly in the setup of the seating areas, but the service, experience, and itinerary are identical.

Once on the island, there are palapa-style shade huts directly in front of the boat, and a limited number of beach chairs available for guests.

This tour is generally operated on Catamaran Red Dragon, designed for comfort and open-deck lounging. Because we leave later in the morning, we arrive after the crowds—and once other operators depart in the afternoon, you’ll have rare, peaceful time on the island with just a handful of guests.

On the way back, we sail into the golden hours, catching the Caribbean sunset from the water. It’s quiet, stunning, and completely unforgettable.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About the Klein Curacao Trip

Do you serve alcohol during the trip?

Yes. Our premium open bar opens only after arrival at Klein Curaçao. Alcoholic beverages are served to guests 18+ and a valid ID may be requested.

Is this tour suitable for cruise passengers?

Due to the early departure times and the length of the trip, this tour does not match cruise ship schedules.

I’m prone to seasickness. Can I still join?

Yes. Many guests prone to seasickness still enjoy this trip. Our catamarans are large and stable, but the outbound journey can sometimes be choppy. We recommend taking seasickness medication 30 minutes before departure, sitting in the shaded middle area, and avoiding a heavy breakfast.

How long does it take to walk to the lighthouse and shipwreck?

The walk takes 20–30 minutes each way. Wear slippers or comfortable sandals, apply sunscreen, and bring a hat — the inland area becomes very hot as the day goes on.

Are there restrooms or facilities on the island?

No. Klein Curaçao is completely uninhabited. There are no restrooms, shops, or facilities on land. All catamarans are equipped with two marine toilets on board.

Is there shade or seating on the island?

Yes, but limited. We provide palapas or shaded areas (depending on the tour) and a limited number of beach chairs. Klein Curaçao is also a protected sea turtle nesting site, so we cannot place shade over the entire beach. We preserve their natural habitat for future generations and kindly ask for your understanding.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer?

Being comfortable in the water is recommended. At times, there can be currents that make the swim to shore more challenging. You may choose to swim or take the dinghy transfer if you prefer. Life vests are available for all guests. We do not provide swim noodles, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Can I bring my own snorkeling gear?

Yes. You’re welcome to bring your own equipment. We also provide snorkeling masks and pipe on board, free to use. Availability is first-come, first-served. If you prefer to snorkel with fins, please bring your own, as we do not offer fins on board.

Will I see sea turtles?

Most likely! Klein Curaçao is one of the best places in the region to spot wild sea turtles. They often swim near the boat or along the drop-off just offshore. Please always keep a respectful distance and never touch or chase them. Do keep in mind that this is nature, and sightings can never be guaranteed.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

We can offer options such as vegetarian or gluten-free meals if requested in advance. Please inform us during booking.

Is there fresh water on the island?

Yes. Our crew places a water cooler with cups on the beach so guests can stay hydrated throughout the day—very important, as the sun is strong. Please note that this is a boating experience, which means the open bar is served on board only. We do not bring the bar to shore.

Is it safe to explore on my own?

Yes, the island is safe. Please watch your footing around rocky areas and protect yourself from the sun.

Can I fly a drone?

Yes, but please respect the turtle nesting areas, avoid flying close to guests or wildlife and bring extra batteries (no power on the island or the boat)

Can I bring valuables?

We recommend limiting valuables—water, sand, and salt can damage items. Storage on board is limited and may get wet. Beach bags are brought to the island by dinghy upon arrival and brought back by dinghy upon departure. Beach bags stay on the island during lunch or other returns to the boat.

Is the return trip calmer?

Often, yes. Afternoon wind patterns usually make the ride back smoother, and we travel with the waves, which helps. When the wind allows, we also sail a large part of the return, making it more comfortable. That said, sea conditions can vary day to day, so we can’t guarantee a completely calm crossing.

Are there jellyfish?

Not commonly. If there is a seasonal increase, the crew will notify guests before swimming begins.

Can pregnant guests join?

You are welcome to join if you feel comfortable and your physician has advised that it is safe for you. Because every pregnancy is different, we cannot assess your individual situation and leave the decision entirely up to you. Please keep in mind that we cannot return easily once the boat is underway, and there is no medical assistance available on Klein Curaçao. For your safety and peace of mind, we strongly recommend consulting your physician before booking.

Are there lifeguards on the island?

No. Klein Curaçao is completely uninhabited and there are no lifeguards on land. Our well-trained crew supervises swimming and overall safety from both the boat and the beach area. If an emergency ever occurs, they can immediately contact the Coast Guard and air ambulance for assistance.

Do you offer private charters?

Yes. All our catamarans can be booked privately for groups, including Klein Curaçao.
Contact us for availability.

How long is the tour?

Each trip lasts a full day, typically returning between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
The Sunset Edition returns after sunset.
