Experience the West coast of Curacao

West Coast Sailing 2

Almost all the white sandy beaches of Curaçao are scattered along the remote and sheltered southwest coast, where the water is generally calm and crystal clear. The island has around 38 beaches, but there are also a few places by the sea tucked away in little inlets, or “bocas” as they are called locally. These secret beaches are generally on the west coast and can only be accessed by boat. They are more rugged than many of the more popular beaches.

The trip starts at 8:30 AM. As soon as the catamaran is on open water, the sails are hoisted and it’s smooth sailing with the current to the west coast of Curaçao! The destination is Cas Abao Beach, one of the most pristine beaches in Curacao and the world! Here you can jump into the water and explore the deep! Free snorkel gear (mask and pipe) is available on board.

If you’ve joined the trip for a scuba dive, this is the place. Once at Cas Abao you can gear up and dive into the water. You can dive on the right or left side of the bay, depending on the current. On both sides Cas Abao has a healthy reef to explore, with different types of coral, sponges, and marine life like frogfish, moray eel, squid, spotted trunkfish, mantis shrimp, and even rare seahorses. Eagle rays are known to call this their home and wild dolphins, stingrays and sea turtles have also been spotted.

And while our guests are enjoying themselves, the crew prepares the best BBQ lunch! Two homemade salads, 4 different BBQ-meast, bread and of course our legendary peanut sauce. Lunch is served at 12:30 PM and that is also the moment when the premium open bar opens. The Premium bar contains only the good stuff: Bacardi rum, Big Rack vodka, Dewar’s white label whiskey, white wine, AIX rosé wine and 2 types of beer!

After lunch, we sail to the second beach stop of the day: Kokomo Beach. Kokomo Beach is well known for its elaborate night parties, but during the day it’s the perfect beach to just hang out and enjoy the Caribbean water. Jump off the boat, the pier, or take a cool selfie on the Kokomo swing, conveniently placed in the water for an iconic vacation selfie!

We start heading back at 3:00 PM, staying close to the Curacao coastline to closely admire all the sites, Coral Estate, Blue Bay, Piscadera, from the water. A tour of the harbor, Punda, Otrobanda, the "pondjesbrug" (floating bridge) and the Curacao Seaquarium completes the trip. We dock at 5:00 PM.
