Booked a trip to Klein Curacao? Then get ready for amazing turquoise waters and a long white
sand beach! If this is your first time to this remote island, you may be wondering what to bring
with you. BlueFinn Charters offers all-inclusive travel, which means food and drinks are
included, but for your added convenience and the overall experience of the trip, consider these
tips.
1- Breakfast
If you are susceptible to seasickness catamarans in general favor other types of boats. This
because catamarans are very stable, have little to no heeling, and don’t roll at anchor. However,
if you are prone to seasickness, it is recommended that you have breakfast before boarding and
take a motion sickness medication as a precaution. Medicines are not available on board.
2- Camera!
It is not every day that you get to say you that you have visited an uninhabited sunlit island, full
of history and mystery. From dolphins to sea turtles, from panoramic views to wrecks and ruins,
from a pearly white sand beach to an impressive 75ft catamaran… Get your camera ready for
some great Instagram photos! (don't forget to tag us @bluefinncharters)
3- Sun Protection
With almost no structures on the island to provide shade and a pearl white beach half a mile
long, it is safe to call Klein Curaçao a sun-drenched bounty island with a desert climate.
Sunscreen with a higher SPF, hats, (swimming) shirts with long sleeves and sunglasses are not
an unnecessary luxury but a necessity! Bring everything you need to protect yourself from the
relentless hot sun! Especially if you take a walk inland to explore the lighthouse, ruins and
shipwreck. You may not feel the intensity of the suns rays because of the cool sea breeze, but
you will see and feel the result at the end of the day if you don't use the right sun protection and
take good care of your skin.
4- Snorkel Gear
Klein Curacao is known for its rich underwater world. As soon as you enter the water, you
immediately see a wide variety of fish and sea turtles! On the leeward side of the island you can
easily snorkel everywhere. On board we have free snorkel gear, mask and pipe. If you want to
snorkel with fins, this is something to take with you on the trip. If you prefer to scuba dive, then
diving equipment is also something to take with you.
5- Hiking Shoes
On the island there are an abandoned lighthouse, ruins, graves and some shipwrecks. All a
must to see. They seem far away from the mooring, but it is quite a short walk. Usually the
island has little vegetation for easy walking, but water shoes or slippers are a must as the rocky
land gets far too hot for bare feet.
6- Towel
Although you can dry off just by standing around, we recommend that you bring a towel. It helps
you dry off quickly, but also keeps you warm when the sea breeze is cold. A set of dry clothes
can also be useful, especially if you plan on hanging out on the web where you are sure to get
wet.
Enjoy the trip and your day at Klein Curacao! Book your trip here if you haven't already done so.
